Stone Jail Building and Row House : ウィキペディア英語版 | Stone Jail Building and Row House
The Stone Jail Building and Row House are two adjacent stone buildings located on Water Street in Tonopah, Nevada. The jail was built in 1903 to replace the city's first jail, a frame building from 1901 that is no longer standing. The jail was built on Water Street, which was considered Tonopah's red light district at the time, because county leaders wished to keep the jail out of the town's more prominent areas. After a jail was added to the Nye County Courthouse in 1907, the old jail became a private residence. When the row house was built next to it in 1908, both buildings became brothels. The row house has since been called "one of the best preserved brothels in Tonopah" by a historic survey. The buildings were added to the May 20, 1982.〔 ==References==
